LEARN TO SWIM LEVELS

Learn to Swim 1

Learn to Swim 1 is for children who do not know how to swim and have no prior swimming experience. The swimmer will learn the foundations of swimming: safety, floating, bubbles, and stability in the water. 

3 swimmers : 1 instructor.

Learn to Swim 2

Prerequisite: Must be able to blow bubbles and kick with face in water.

Learn to Swim 2 is for children who know how to kick Freestyle and put their face in the water but still have trouble swimming on their own without assistance.  The swimmer will learn how to swim basic freestyle and backstroke for short distances.  

3 swimmers : 1 instructor.

Learn to Swim 3

Prerequisite: Must be able to float on back unassisted and swim a short distance of Freestyle and Backstroke unassisted.

Learn to Swim 3 is for children who know how to float on their back and swim Freestyle and Backstroke a short distance unassisted. The purpose of the class is to improve the swimmer’s ability to swim further distances of Freestyle and Backstroke unassisted.

STROKE DEVELOPMENT LEVELS

Stroke Development 1

Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 10 yards Freestyle with side breathing and 10 yards of Backstroke unassisted.

Stroke Development 1 is for children who know how to swim Freestyle with side breathing and Backstroke unassisted for 10 yards, but have minimal knowledge of Breaststroke and Butterfly.  The swimmer will continue to improve upon Freestyle and Backstroke and learn basic Breaststroke and Butterfly.

3 swimmers : 1 instructor.

Stroke Development 2

Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 25 yards Freestyle with side breathing unassisted, 25 yards of Backstroke unassisted, and have a working knowledge of Breastroke and Butterfly.

Stroke Development 2 is for children who know how to swim and can swim all 4 strokes at a basic level.  The swimmer will refine the technique of all four strokes and continue to gain endurance. 

3 swimmers : 1 instructor.

Stroke Development 3

Prerequisite: Must be able to swim all 4 strokes legally: Freestyle and Backstroke for 25 yards and Breastroke and Butterfly for at least 12.5 yards. 

Stroke Development 3 is for children who can swim all 4 strokes legally but do not yet have the endurance for Coached Lap Swim.  Stroke Development 3 will get the swimmer ready for the Coached Lap Swim group.

Coached Lap Swim

Prerequisite: Must be able to swim 50 yards Freestyle in less than 1 minute 15 seconds and 25 yards of each stroke legally in less than 45 seconds.

Coached Lap Swim is for children who enjoy lap swimming while working on technique, speed, and endurance.
